Turn to Jesus Tiger

Brit Hume, on Fox News, encourages Tiger Woods to turn from Buddhism to Christianity.

I'm a Blazers Fan!

I’ve been a Sonics fan for as long as I can remember. But with their recent move to Oklahoma I’m officially done with them.

So…after living in Oregon for 10 years and putting up with obnoxious Blazers fans all around me I’ve finally caved and become one myself. :)

With Greg Oden back and stars like Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge primed for another great season I’m excited to get on board with this young exciting team.

The Blazers open up their season tonight on TNT at 7:30pm against the Lakers.

Fantasy Football

Last night 12 guys from church gathered to have our annual fantasy football draft. I began playing fantasy football about 4 years ago when my friend Jeff Stewart invited me to participate in their church’s league. Previously I thought that fantasy football was the activity of complete nerds who huddled together to engage in dungeon and dragons during lunch in high school.

Well it may be nerdish but I really enjoy it.

I am really excited about my team this year. Barring injuries to key players (which is almost inevitable) I should have a very solid team.

Here is my roster:

We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 Flex (RB/WR), 1 TE, 1 DST, 1 K

Starters:

QB – Jay Cutler (Broncos)

RB – Clinton Portis (Redskins)

RB – Frank Gore (49ers)

WR – Terrell Owens (Cowboys)

WR – Anquan Boldin (Cardinals)

RB/WR – Earnest Graham (Buccaneers)

TE – Jeremy Shockey (Saints)

DST – Redskins

K – Phil Dawson (Browns)

Reserves:

QB – Jon Kitna (Lions)

RB – Matt Forte (Bears)

RB – Warrick Dunn (Buccaneers)

WR – James Hardy (Bills)

WR – Donte’ Stallworth (Browns)

Oh by the way speaking of Jeff Stewart…please keep him in prayer as he goes in for the removal of his native kidneys today. No he’s not Native American…those are his original kidneys that are diseased. When he recieved his transplant back in May they left the native kidneys and it’s now time to remove them. This surgery has the propensity for many complications so please remember the Stewart’s in prayer.

It's Official

The Seattle Supersonics who have been playing professional basketball in Seattle since 1967 are now moving to Oklahoma City. No offense to Okie Preacher, but are you kidding me! For one thing Oklahoma is a college football state. Always has been, always will be. Maybe I’m just bitter about the owner ripping this team out of Seattle, but I don’t see this being a good move for the “Sonics” at all. We’ll see what happens in October when the NBA season begins, right in the middle of the Sooners run at a national championship and the Cowboys run at another beat down by the Sooners. Seriously though…is this city and region really going to support this team?

The owner will have to change the name and the colors.

So what will they call them? Okie said, “they could call them ‘The Possums’ but then they would get killed on the road.” I don’t think it will have anything to do with their name… :)

I have now officially changed my allegiance to the Portland Trailblazers. Go Brandon Roy…Go Greg Oden…Go Nate McMillan (who is a Sonic btw). I have lived in Oregon for 10 years now so I guess it’s about time I root for a local team.

Good bye Sonics…you’re horrible anyway.

Oh…I’m rooting for the Tampa Bay Rays while the Mariners figure out that they are getting paid to play baseball.

March Madness

tarheelsOn Thursday the best event in sports will begin…

I haven’t taken the time to fill out a bracket yet but I picked N. Carolina a few months ago so I’m sticking with them.

I will give you my final 4 later but I’m going with the Tar Heels over a very good Bruins team, led by Oregon’s own Kevin Love, coming out of the west bracket.

Any picks…oh and don’t worry I’ll have a real spiritual post up soon. :)

The end of another season…

Another NFL season is over and done with. Churches and pastors will see guys they haven’t seen in months :)

Predictions

Some predictions…not important stuff or things that will cost me my life if I’m wrong but just some ideas of what will go down in the world of sports and politics.

Not Feelin' It

I haven’t felt real inspired lately. Therefore I haven’t written anything in a few days. It probably stems from the fact that I’ve been sick as a dog since Christmas. Like most men I refused to go to the doctor until it got so bad that I had to. I’m now on some powerful antibiotics and hopefully I will return to the land of the living soon.

My Seahawks did beat the Redskins 35-14 in the Wild Card round of the NFC playoffs. They will now travel to Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI. to face a very good Packers team in a very tough place to play on the road. The Seahawks will need to play equally as good defensively as they did against the Redskins and they will need to shore up that offense that seemed to struggle a bit. Be sure to carve out some time to root for the Hawks on Saturday, January 12th at 1:30pm (Fox).

The New Hampshire primary takes place today. Barack Obama who took Iowa last week is projected to take the Granite State by double digits as well. If this projection proves to be true this might be the beginning of the end for the Hill and Bill show.

On the Republican side, John McCain is holding onto a slim lead over the self-made Mormon (Romney) who surged in the polls after a good showing in the Republican debate on Sunday night. Mike Huckabee who came out of no where to take Iowa is projected to finish third in New Hampshire. This is no surprise as the southern evangelical doesn’t resonate well with the sophisticated secular residents of New Hampshire. The other Republican candidates seem to be really struggling and it makes you wonder how long guys like Fred Thompson and Rudy can hold on.

I hope that you’re feeling better than I am. Have a great day and may Jesus be our focus no matter who wins this year’s presidential race. :)
